Who Is Kapachino?

kat_about1.gifHi, I’m Kathleen. My brothers (for some strange reason) call me Kapachino. I live in Houston and I LOVE IT HERE so think twice before you say anything bad about it to me. I recently graduated from nursing school, and now I work at The Methodist Hospital (#10 best company to work for in the NATION, according to Fortune Magazine) on the oncology unit. I live in an apartment with two roommates who are high school friends, along with my dog Cleo who I rescued from the pound last year.

I love God and I love people, and I try to do both things better all the time. I go to a tiny church that I love where I sing every Sunday and try not to be bitter about the fact that I have to be there at 8 a.m. I have two great parents and two younger brothers who are way cooler than I am. I have a few really good friends, most of whom are scattered across the country, and I’m happily engaged to a wonderful man who, like my brother, is named David. This can be confusing.

You need to know that I am a nerd. I read a lot in all genres, even sci-fi. I have played soccer my whole life and still play on a coed indoor team, and in the summers I add a women’s outdoor team to that. I like to take leisurely runs and I have a nice road bike that I attempt to ride sometimes. One day I’d like to do a triathlon. I have some obsessive-compulsive quirks. I am a picky eater. I wish I could afford season tickets to Broadway Across America. I do crossword puzzles and it is one of my life goals to one day participate in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (”participate” being the key word). Other things on my List of Things To Do Before I Die include:

  • See a Braves game at Turner Field*
  • Watch all of the movies that have won Best Picture
  • Become fluent in Spanish
  • Learn to play the piano decently
  • See Coldplay and Nickel Creek in concert

Here is a list of things that I like.

*In order to survive in my family I must mention here that I am more of an Astros fan than a Braves fan. I went through a Braves phase for awhile, and some affinity for the team still survives within me.
