I Ask For Your Input

My best friend is getting married in a week, and one of the things I’d like to do for her is make a “First Night” CD for them to listen to…whenever. I’d appreciate your suggestions on which songs to include, because without help I’m sure I’ll overlook some really good ones. Thanks!

making playlists is one of my favorite things ever, so i couldn’t not comment.

no particular order except alphabetically by artist’s name (by the way, new slang by the shins is not ever going to be on any list by me ever for any reason, no matter how much everyone loved that movie garden state. i thought i got it the first time, but i recently watched it again, and i just don’t get it. now just thinking about that movie confuses and angers me. also, this was going to be a 10 song list and then i wrecked that notion with 4xDylan that i couldn’t leave out. since i already arbitrarily tacked on one more song that doesn’t quite fit–the radiohead tune–and one more i should have thought of sooner because it fits superbly–the one by snow patrol–and i’ve thought of 900 more songs to list, i just have to stop. it saddens me that i didn’t find room for a tune by new order or tears for fears or any american idol or u2 or a country tune or an urban tune. argh, stop, me, stop…i’m not in any kind of shape to attempt a PR in the parenthetical commenting event):

    Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
    Bob Dylan - Moonlight
Bob Dylan - Buckets of Rain
Bob Dylan - Make You Feel My Love
Bob Dylan - Lay Lady Lay
    Dido - Thank You
Foo Fighters - Best of You
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Hellogoodbye - Here in Your Arms
Cindy Lauper - Time After Time
    Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
    Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

    lots of Jack Johnson

    I adore these love songs:

Book of love - Peter Gabriel
    Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers
    Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra
    At Last - Ella Fitzgerald

    Mostly traditional, completely hopeless romantic.

Scott and I are on the same page. No offense to anyone else, but you can get so many of those songs on “Greatest Booty-Slapping Jams” compilations. On mix CDs you have to get a little personalized, a little…unexpected.
